Our Company

Vocational and Life Care Planning, Inc. is a group of consultants engaged in Life Care Planning, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling and Care Management services for the nation’s most prominent law firms, medical centers and insurance companies. In 1999, after twenty-five years in the field of Special Education, Beth Greenbaum, Ph.D., established Education & Life Care Planning. Over the next twenty years while building a strong reputation as a leading expert in the field of Life Care Planning, Dr. Greenbaum was joined by six additional consultants all drawing from their unique backgrounds and experience in the fields of Medicine, Law, Nursing, Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling, Case Management and Speech/Language Pathology.

 

In January 2019, Vocational & Life Care Planning (VLCP, Inc.) was established, comprising this team of multi-disciplinary consultants who have combined their individual expertise to emerge as an internationally respected practice group.

Dr. Beth Greenbaum, became certified as a Life Care Planner in 1999, and subsequently became certified as a Rehabilitation Counselor shortly thereafter. She has prepared thousands of Life Care Plans and Vocational Assessments for forensic purposes. She began working with one of the most prestigious Life Care Planning firms in the nation, creating Life Care Plans and vocational analyses. Dr. Greenbaum founded Education & Life Care Planning, Inc., to offer Life Care Planning and Vocational Rehabilitation Services throughout the United States. Dr. Greenbaum’s background, education, training and professional experience as a special educator working with students with a variety of disabilities including brain injury, spinal cord injury, autism, attention deficit disorder, learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, and multiple chronic health care issues. As a Life Care Planner, Dr. Greenbaum has been engaged by law firms, both defense and plaintiff, as well as Insurance Companies and Reinsurers, throughout the United States, South America, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Dr. Greenbaum has extensive experience testifying in federal courts, state and local courts and participating in mediation procedures. In 2019, Dr. Greenbaum founded Vocational & Life Care Planning, employing the services of five additional Life Care Planners, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor and Case Manager, expanding the company. VLCP now has five professionals, with multidisciplinary specialties including internal medicine, hematology/oncology, nursing, special education, social worker, juris doctor/attorney, and speech therapy. We work as a team, supported by an office manager and medical record analyst.

After graduating from law school, Jessica determined that she wanted to work with individuals with disabilities through a more integrated and practice based approach of counseling. While earning her Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Jessica worked at a local district Vocational Rehabilitation Office for the State of Florida. She engaged in client intake and vocational counseling and saw first hand the practical challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in the return to work process. She gained expertise in problem solving and finding solutions to help her clients with disabilities return to employment. Jessica trained at the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in Washington D.C., an acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Jessica led group counseling and vocational information sessions and engaged in one-on-one counseling to assist inpatients with coping and planning for return to work after injury. While at NRH, Jessica also engaged in comprehensive vocational testing for outpatient individuals referred by the District of Columbia Vocational Rehabilitation Office. Jessica earned her certification as a Life Care Planner after recognizing that following injury most of the individuals she worked in a vocational capacity also required more comprehensive planning and assistance. Combining her passion for legal advocacy and counseling, Jessica found a way to integrate her interests, education, expertise and training through a forensic-based consulting practice. Jessica joined Vocational & Life Care Planning over 10 years ago and has a broad range of experience in developing comprehensive life care plans, vocational testing & analysis and consulting services.

Kara has worked with individuals with disability throughout her career. While attending Columbia University, Kara interned at a Long Term Care facility and performed case management for Holocaust survivors from the Former Soviet Union. After graduating, she moved to Ukraine and developed and implemented a memory care program for Nazi Victims with cognitive impairment. While in Ukraine, she also facilitated psychoeducation for professional caregivers working with disabled, homebound clients. Kara then moved to Israel and worked as the Assistant Director of a center for individuals with cognitive impairment. She then worked at The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington as the Lead Case Manager for rehabilitation. While working as a case manager, Kara pursued a course in Life Care Planning from the Capital University Law School. After graduating with a Certificate in Life Care Planning, she joined Vocational & Life Care Planning as a Life Care Planner. She currently also is a Care Manager for individuals with disability, facilitates a support group for family caregivers and lectures Social Workers for Continuing Education Courses (CEUs) on topics related to individuals suffering from disability.

After graduate school, Jamie began working as a school-based Speech-Language Pathologist for the New York City Department of Education. She worked in both a general education setting in the Bronx and a self-contained special education school in District 75 in Brooklyn. She supported students with significant challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, significant cognitive delays, emotional disturbances, sensory impairments and multiple disabilities. Therapy focused on speech, language, communication, assistive technology (AT) and alternative augmentative communication (AAC) and feeding/swallowing in a multi disciplinary approach. After four years, she moved back to her hometown and has been working for Montgomery County, MD Public Schools (MCPS) ever since. She works on an interdisciplinary augmentative communication and technology team where she collaborates with school teams to support MCPS students (from birth to age 21) with severe communication disabilities, provide professional development opportunities, and support the development of adapted materials to enable students to participate in the curriculum. With the complex needs of her students, Jamie recognized the need for comprehensive planning and became a Certified Life Care Planner. Jamie joined Vocational & Life Care Planning in 2018, and uses her training and area of expertise to focus assessments/evaluations and generating Life Care Plans to the pediatric population as well as consult with adults who have augmentative communication needs.

Dr. Clement’s Internship, Residency and Chief Resident year in Internal Medicine were at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), Boston, MA, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Clement completed her Hematology-Medical Oncology fellowship at BIDMC. She now practices in Connecticut and remains triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. CLCP training from Capitol University, Columbus, Ohio with certification achieved in 2016.

Following nursing school, Sherri worked as a RN on a high risk obstetrical unit in a university medical center that offered a Level 3 NICU. She worked at this hospital for five years, beginning as a graduate nurse and working up to Acting Nursing Unit Coordinator. As the Acting Nursing Unit Coordinator, she supervised staff with planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating care. She identified goals for patient care, coordinated nursing activities, monitored unit budget, delegated specific areas of responsibility for patient care to appropriate staff, and was responsible for clinical and administrative functioning of the unit 24 hours a day. From hospital nursing, Sherri worked for a number of health insurances and health foundations, working with quality care and utilization management of patients. In this realm she was responsible for benefit interpretation, assessing the need for hospitalization or placement in a facility for multiple health and surgical care issues, and providing case management to individuals when necessary. She then went to work for two years, providing direct nursing support and care to high risk obstetrical patients in a hospital and/or home care setting, working as a Home Care Nurse. In 2000, Sherri began working for a reputable law firm as a consultant, assisting and preparing Life Care Plans. She worked there for 20 years, before joining Vocational & Life Care Planning in 2020. She uses her background and experience with working with high risk obstetrical individuals, as well as with multiple health and surgical care issues in developing individualized, comprehensive life care plans.

Emily Intrater, Executive Assistant & Office Manager

Emily has 8 years of experience as a Special Education teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland and the San Francisco Bay Area. She has worked in various educational settings, from self-contained classrooms for children with mild to moderate disabilities, emotional disturbance and autism. She then moved on to work as a resource teacher supporting both students and teachers in the natural classroom setting. After having children, Emily began working as an office manager for a family business, primarily responsible for onboarding clients and helping companies establish organizational processes. She has worked in the Client Services/Administrative field ever since. In August 2018, Emily joined the VLCP team as the Executive Assistant and Office Manager. Emily’s role at VLCP has allowed her to leverage her skills and experience from early childhood and elementary special education, as well as the client services field.

Nuha Al-Harazi, Medical Record Analyst

With her strong educational background, Nuha has gained extensive exposure and experience in various healthcare environments including urgent care facilities, hospitals and medical facilities. She worked as a medical assistant in a primary care office, where she gained both clinical and administrative experience. She also worked as a clinical technician in Surgical Services at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital, caring for individuals in both the pre-operative and the post-anesthesia care units. She also served as the unit secretary in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), working alongside hospitalists, charge nurses and case managers. She was responsible for scheduling, coordinating and implementing the flow within the surgical service units. Nuha joined Vocational and Life Care Planning, Inc. in 2017 as a Medical Record Analyst. In that role, she reviewed all records pertaining to each case, playing a major role in setting up the foundation of each Life Care Plan report. In 2018, Nuha filled in as the temporary office manager and assistant to Dr. Greenbaum, with various roles spanning from customer service, account management and serving as a liaison between clients and the VLCP team. In 2019, Nuha returned to her primary role as a Medical Record Analyst, where she has been able to incorporate her passion for the healthcare/medical field. She has been a key member of the VLCP team and is committed to continually grow and expand her knowledge in the field of Life Care Planning.
